Woman, social justice, LGBTQ, corrective rape

This work is currently in process. This piece is based on an earlier painting, and inspired by the story of Ndumie Funda, an activist for the LGBT community in South Africa, where corrective rape is prevalent. This is the rape of lesbians by men in order to 'fix' them and put an end to what is viewed as abnormal behaviour. Some statistics show that more than 10 gay women a week are raped or gang-raped in Cape Town alone.
